{A Long Weekend in Munich}

Four days after my sister left Amsterdam, my brother-in-law and his wife arrived! We spent their first weekend in town exploring Amsterdam and then this past weekend we met them in Munich for a few days. We had quite a whirlwind of a time, taking two day-trips outside the city. One to Salzburg, Austria (wow – so breathtakingly beautiful!) and one to Neuschwanstein Castle (looked right out of a storybook). Now we’re all back home (us in Amsterdam, them in Chicago) and I am just so thankful to have these wonderful memories with them. It’s definitely hard being away from family living over here, but then we get to have experiences like this with them and I realize how rare and amazing it is. This is just a little taste of our weekend away (beer, pretzels and castles, oh my!), many more photos to come (captions below)!

Also – I’ll be sharing Greece photos for the rest of the week – yippee!

  1. I've been to that castle!!! That makes me so happy!! And I love your outfit…I have a chambray shirt that I never wear because I'm not a fan of the Canadian tuxedo but will totally try this.

  2. Liz, I am in awe of your travel schedule! Between visitors in Amsterdam and weekends away, you are one busy lady! I don't think I could keep up!

  3. Your Mirabelle Garden outfit is perfection…and these pics just made me super excited to go to Salzberg. But we're planning a trip in January…so the scenery might be a tad different. As always, I love love love your photos. Will y'all still be in Amsterdam in January? Blate, perhaps?

  4. Liz — I am so glad y'all got to go to these amazing places!! These were our exact day trips out of Munich too and we LOVED them both so much. Are those Hofbrauhaus mugs I see?? 😉 Wasn't Salzburg gorgeous — and the castle — no words. Breathtaking. So glad you have had such great “fam” time! xoxo

  5. Lovely photos! Can you please tell us where you got your maxi skirt from? I love how you styled it! I can never figure out how to style a maxi!

  6. Your outfit is perfection! And these photos are stunning. We're going to Europe in November for a wedding and trying to decide if it's worth visiting Munich (since it'll be freezing). The giant beers made the decision much easier.

  7. Oh wonderful – I hope you enjoyed my city:-) Munich is adorable and Salzburg is super romantic, not to mention the fairytale Neuschwanstein castle. Glad you came to visit this corner of Europe, too!

  8. Your pictures have made me so excited to see Munich and Salzburg, which is just as well as we'll be there in two weeks. Which is a manageable amount of time for travel-envy! Particularly love the beautiful planter box windows and the view over Salzburg. Beautiful photos as always.
